Up Way Publications 38th Anniversary

The Bible Apostolic Logo features the golden sun rising from a deep blue morning sky. The Bible as  the one foundation upon which we build and are establishes is marked open by the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Great Creator who so loved us  that He became flesh and dwelt among us, then bled and died to pay the debt for our sins. The golden sun arc doubles to represent the open tomb from  which He arose triumphant. The descending dove represents the coming of the Holy Spirit to us and the flame represents the fire and power of the Holy Spirit in the life of every true believer. When asked if we are Fundamentalist, we are more Fundamental than they. Are we Evangelistic? Very! Are we Baptist? We place a higher value on Biblical water baptism than the Baptists. Are we Pentecostal? We definitely believe in the entire of the Acts 2 experience including that the promise of 2:38 and 39 is to all that the Lord our God shall call. Are we Apostolic? Our desire and goal is to preach, teach and practice that exact same Gospel that Jesus
Christ and His Original Apostles taught and would still be teaching
if here in person, as we prayerfully try to be their faithful representatives.

Presiding Elder

Judge or Fruit Inspector?
Judge or Fruit Inspector
I often illustrate the  true meaning of the often quoted "Judge Not!" by saying that you do not have to be a judge to know you were not inspecting a tangerine tree when you get hit on the head by a coconut that fell off the tree you were standing under that sends you to the hospital with a broken neck and a concussion! You do not really even need to be a fruit inspector to know that difference.

Jesus also said, "By their fruits ye shall know them." You know the coconut that put you in the hospital was not a ripe tangerine! You are not "judging" " the coconut palm  tree when you say it is a coconut palm and not a tangerine tree.  You are only stating the obvious fact.  Likewise when someone says they are a Christian, but exhibit none of the fruits of the Holy Spirit and rather exhibit a btter and evil attitude, it is nothing like judging to say they need to repent and get right with God!
Another illustration of the lack of contradiction between otherwise seemingly contradictory Bible passages is by by saying, that if you tell a small child not to cross the street at a time when you are too busy to watch or escort him, it is obviously not a contradiction for you to take his hand and say, “Quick, cross the street!” a while later, but if you only hear the “Don’t cross the street” and then the “Quick, cross the street!” it may seem totally contradictory. Such is the verse, “Judge not, that ye be not judged.” (Matthew 7:1).

Many people quickly jump on this verse or hide behind it when you begin to lovingly try to correct sin in their lives, completely disregarding “For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.” (Matthew 7:2).

Jesus commandment has more to do with always showing love and kindness to everyone around you than proving your own righteousness as to another person's unrighteousness. If your next door neighbor is living in obvious sin six days out ok, but goes to church on Sunday and pretends to be a true born again Christian, they will most likely accuse you of judging them and fire an angry “Judge not!...” at you when you try to tell them they are on the road to hell and damnation. But this is the case of the coconut tree. You are “hit on the head” by their daily ungodliness and unrighteousness, so to point out their sinful ways and warn them caringly of their coming eternal judgment is not judging on your part but actually witnessing as to what you observe. There is, after all, a great deal of difference between a witness and a judge.  The judge rarely witnesses first hand the crime he is sitting in judgment on.

For in John 7:24, Jesus says, “Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment,” and herein we Christians who live according to the Scriptures may be more judgmental than we ought to be. If it were not for the Grace of God, we could be every bit as guil;ty as the worst of them. It is not by works of rightwousness that we have done, but God's love and grace. We heard the word, believed that word, felt the Holy Spirit prick our heart with conviction and cried out, "What must we do?"(Acts 2:36,37). By God's grace, we hear the true message of salvation; "Repent and be baptized every one of you for the remission of sins and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost." (Acts 2:39).

Many people accuse Christians of being judgmental, but it should be simply a matter of us carefully and lovingly stating Biblical truth and the offender is judged by the Word of God quoted by you rather than you actually being the one who is judging. In truth, it is  the Word of God making the accusation, not for condemnation, but for correction. If you are not living according to the scriptural Christian life, but you do not want to appear to be judged by me, then measure up to God's Word and I cannot find any fault. I do not judge you. You are judged by God's Word. If you measure up to His word, you cannot be condemned. If a fault is found, it is not for condemnation, but correction.

Friend, look at your own fruits "Being filled with the fruits of righteousness, which are in Jesus Christ, unto the glory and praise of God." (Philippians1:11). and most of all at "The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such, there is no law. (Galatians 5:22,23).
